Empty firehouse apparatus bay at cold dawn with turnout coats hanging on hooks

The founding

It began inthe quiet yearsafter.

In the years after September 11, illness and loss among firefighters were at their worst. Coats stayed on hooks. Funerals stacked up. The help arriving was slower than the need. That is why this foundation exists.

And the job today

The need never closed.

Fires, medical emergencies, collapse, hazmat, terrorism. The same work is happening tonight, and the same aftermath follows it — injury, illness, loss, and families left holding the weight. The foundation was built for that aftermath, and it is still standing in it.
